U.A.E. Pavilion, Milan
The U.A.E. Pavilion, to be revealed at the 2015 Milan Expo, will showcase the principles of the traditional desert city. The pavilion’s interior of self-shaded streets evokes the experience of the UAE’s ancient communities, while demonstrating the natural energy efficiency of their compact urban form.
Visitors will be drawn into the site via a canyon-like space, defined by two undulating 12-metre-high walls. Influenced by ancient planning principles, the paths within the pavilion will evoke the narrow pedestrian streets and courtyards of the ancient desert city. The walls will continue throughout the site in a series of parallel waves, unifying the visitor space within a dynamic formal language designed to portray the ridges and texture of sand dunes.
Arabian Profile, in collaboration with CanBuild, will design and construct the entire development in Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC). The final and complete design of the structure will be confirmed prior to the expo itself. Upon completion of the exhibition the Pavilion will be dismantled, shipped back to the UAE and then permanently erected in the Masdar region of Abu Dhabi.

These statistics will make the Hamad International Airport the second largest airport facility in the Middle East.
Arabian Profile played a significant and integral role in the successful development of The Hamad International Airport.180,000m² of aluminium composite panels, 15,000m² of architectural and sand trap louvres and 10,000m² of metal insulated panels were engineered, manufactured, and installed to the terminal building, concourses and central utility plants.
All panels and louvres were designed and tested to EMKA certification and met with stringent requirements of the MEP contractor. The joints within the composite panels were also designed without the usage of a silicone sealant, eliminating pressured air bleed.
APL also designed and developed an air and water pressure tested composite panel joint system, using extruded aluminium framings and gaskets inclusive of a water weep system, the very first of its kind. The system was devised with the flexibility to easily replace panels with windows, doors and other ancillaries, thereby providing extended architectural freedom to the design element of the façade.

Zabeel Boundary Wall & Gates
The Boundary Wall and Gates at Zabeel are a unique seven kilometre enclosure, yielding a contemporary dimension to the concept of prefabricated construction. In collaboration with it’s consultants, APL developed a double sided Glass Reinforced Concrete, (GRC), wall system, inclusive of prefabricated footing, tie beams and neck columns, eliminating any on-site concrete pouring work.
Arabian Profile produced 4 meter high wall elements in 6 and 12 meter lengths together with intermediary columns and adjoining heads. These elements were lined on both faces with Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) panels displaying an intricate carpet design in three colours with an acid-etched stone finish.
In order for the elements to free stand, the interior of the elements were filled, at production stage with a special grade self-raising concrete. All required electric conduits for lanterns and LED lights were pre-laid and then delivered to site using custom designed steel frames as single units. The joints between the elements were designed for easy sliding, allowing minimal deployment of on-site manpower and accelerating erection time without impeding on associated trade works.
On account of the complex techniques involved in the GRC manufacturing process, achieving a three colour design scheme is extremely unusual. APL overcame this difficulty by the design of spraying methods performed by highly skilled craftsmen. The finish on the panels was achieved using premix designed and imported from Canbuild, Hong Kong. All elements were applied with compatible sealers to prevent water and dirt impregnation onto the GRC surface.

The Address Dubai Marina Mall is a 5-star luxury Hotel and Serviced Apartment building located near the Jumeirah Beach Residences in the Heart of Dubai Marina, directly connected to the Dubai Marina Mall. Consisting of 35 stories, the building has 12 floors of hotel rooms and 23 floors of serviced apartments.
Arabian Profile engineered and produced 22,000m² of GRC panels, with a double-sided, acid-etched stone finish to provide a uniform theme of the neighbouring JBR development architecture. This included the fabrication of GRC condensation and rain water dispersal and drainage systems to ensure a uniform and seamless monolithic aesthetic.
A unique feature of APL’s contribution to this project was the creation of a unitised mounting system, a concept realised for the first time in the region. This specially designed mounting mechanism greatly accelerated the erection process saving valuable time and costs to the contractor.`

The Al Bahr Towers, Abu Dhabi
The Al Bahr Towers serve as the headquarters for the Abu Dhabi Investment Council (ADIC). This iconic structure boasts an incredible mashrabiya facade that pays homage to traditional Arabian architecture and design. The geometric patterns that comprise the facade include over 1,000 moving elements that contract and expand during the day protecting the towers from the relentless sun's glare. While reducing solar gain by 50 percent, the facade also reduces the building’s dependence on artificial light.
For ADIC and Abu Dhabi, the Al Bahar Towers are a shining example of how to use the latest in modern technology while rooting a building in its cultural context. Traditional Arabian architecture long helped locals survive under the most extreme weather conditions. As Abu Dhabi strives towards environmental sustainability and cultural integrity, the Al Bahar Towers stand tall as an example of how the new and old can coexist.
Arabian Profile supplied and installed 2,100m² of standing seam roof cladding with Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) tiles at the podium roof. A further 18,100m² of aluminium composite panels of internal cladding and a 4000m² inverted water proofed insulated roof cladding system were installed.
